I'll be honest guys, I'm feeling really uninspired with my closet lately. Usually this means I'll go out and buy something new, but my bank account is telling me otherwise. Instead I have to shop my own closet, but I'm having the hardest time coming up with "new" outfits.
I know that in theory, I could probably wear this sweater 50 different ways. At least. But for some odd reason, the fashion matching part of my brain has temporarily shut down. I need a computerized closet like Cher's in Clueless to do the work for me. (Is there an app for that?).
Since you all inspire me, what else would you pair this sweater with? Where do you get fashion inspiration from when you're out of ideas?
Linking up with Still Being Molly.

Love the green & leopard together, and those jeans are so cute! I'm sure you will snap out of your creativity/outfit rut soon Sharon :)

Inspiration can be found anywhere. I tend to think of a color wheel right away. I just got a pair of green skinny jeans and will be going down that path of trying to come up with combo's soon. When all else fails you can find inspiration in artwork, men's ties, prints of items you currently own to name just a few... Good Luck! I want to also compliment you are dressing your petite height so well, you get proportions down to a tee...
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great compliment, thank you!
DeleteI really like the green and leopard print! Whenever I need some inspiration I turn to Pinterest lol it really helps!
ReplyDeletelove that color green and of course that scarf!! you could wear it with a patterned shirt layered underneath it?
ReplyDeleteLove the green and leopard together. I just discovered Clothia, a virtual closet app where you can remix your outfits. It has helped me with remixing. My problem is that I have too many clothes not being worn. With the app, I've been able to see my closet. My real life closet is too cramped up.

I love this outfit together. I am new to your blog.
ReplyDeleteLove your style and the fact that you are petite like myself. I am slightly taller at 5'2 even though the Dr says it's 5'1 1/2...LOL I round up.
Haha! I'd round up too :)
DeleteI have so many solid-color sweaters and I usually just pair them with jeans or black pants and then pile on the accessories!
ReplyDeleteI have a the exact same problem! I adore your outfit and totally drolling over your scarf! I am always scanning my favorite blogs for fashion advice or ideas. I even go to Youtube as I am always inspired there too... however it's usually for makeup and hair tutorials but hey whatever works! Anyways if you haven't already check out...... "Because Shanna Said so" or "J's Everyday Fashion". Both of these ladies seriously have cute awesome and affordable ideas and even better they offer an "Outfits" tab at the top of their blog that has pics of outfits. SCORE! You will definitely be inspired! Check them out! I took pictures with my phone of outfits they had and went digging in my closet. It was fun and I would have never thought to piece them together.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, sorry for the long boring convo but hopefully it helps!
XOXO

I get uninspired too! I live green on you and I would pair it with black skinny jeans, knee high boots and a black leather jacket and a black beanie hat. I hope you have a great day!!! XO. Pip
ReplyDeleteThe leopard scarf looks great with your jacket!

I have those days (weeks...) too, where you just feel so uninspired by your own closet. I think this outfit is really cute, and I love the fit of those jeans.
ReplyDeleteYou could try pairing the sweater with a skirt and some tights? Or maybe layer it over a dress? It would also be cute with skinny jeans and boots! Definitely a very versatile piece :)
if this is your uninspired look than I am jealous bc I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Helene, you are too sweet!
DeleteLove the outfit! I've been looking for a scarf like that for a while. Heading over to Amazon to order mine now! Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYay, we can be scarf twins :)
DeleteGirl I have been feeling the same way! I love that you paired the animal print scarf with the sweater. I can't tell how long it is since it's tucked in, but if it was long enough I would wear it with leggings and boots. (Only if it covers my bum though! Haha)
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how you feel. I haven't bought anything since before Thanksgiving and it has been super tough- but my finances are thanking me!!
ReplyDeleteI love this look and it actually just inspired me to get my emerald sweater out and pair it with some leopard! See you may feel uninspired, but you are inspiring me!
I love that cheetah scarf. It is a great touch.
ReplyDeleteThank You so much for stopping by my blog :D

I think you look super cute! I'd been feeling kind of uninspired too, that's why I'm doing the 30x30 challenge. You should totally do it! As for what to pair this with, don't you have a cute striped skirt! I'm seeing this sweater looking super cute with it. :)

you look adorable, sharon! and i know what you mean - sometimes we get into routines and we just need fresh eyes to look at everything. i have been loving looking at different color palettes for inspiration - taking the green from that sweater and finding it in everything around me and seeing what colors or patterns i like it against.
ReplyDeleteThere are some apps I've heard of actually for closet remixing, but it seems like a lot of work to me at the same time. For what it's worth you look really cute here, I love the color of this sweater and the leopard scarf is a fun addition!
ReplyDeleteCute outfit! I love your scarf and jacket. I would pair that sweater with the grey chambray button down under it and dark jeans.
ReplyDeleteloving your scarf!
ReplyDeletekw, Ladies in Navy
Your Clueless reference totally made my day:) That sweater looks great with leopard, so maybe try your leopard print skirt? When I run out of inspiration I look to the archives of my favorite bloggers or pinterest. I am also known to google image search the item I can't style.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit! And I probably would have put the sweater together with worn in jeans, a coat and scarf just like you did - or a fancy skirt! I have those moments too, I just pulled myself out of one actually. It's hard not to shop!
ReplyDeleteYou look great to me.....& you did a great job at shopping in your closet with this look!!!

I'd pair the sweater with a skirt! Just tuck it in and add a fun statement necklace and heels! I've been thinking a lot about how to re-invent my clothing in different ways. I get a lot of ideas from Pinterest and after thinking about my clothes lol

I love what you did...you may feel uninspired but I think you actually inspired a lot of people! :)

So cute, love the leopard with the green!
ReplyDeletecreamyclothes.blogspot.com
Actually there IS an app for that. I use Stylebook on my iPad and it is FABULOUS. The only tedious part is having to take photos of everything in your closet, but after that it is easy breezy and really helpful. I like the green, leopard and brown Sharon!
ReplyDeleteSharon! I LOVE THIS ENTIRE OOTD! I do! The belt, the leopard the jacket all in browns and the green just sets it all off. The torn jeans and the dressy shoes are a go any time and ...you pulled it ALL off. I get inspiration from other fashionistas (like yourself) and Polyvore. (i have to get my link finished for that) HAVE A SUPER DAY!
ReplyDelete...now tell me why do I have the music to CLUELESS in my head right now?...
This is just too cute, love the scarf! My sisters and I usually get outfit inspiration from fashion magazines, other bloggers, and Pinterest. Sometimes, we'll do like Sex and the City girls and try on different outfits. It's totally fun. Have a few of your girlfriends over and make it a party.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day Sharon!
XO Wil Harris
LOVE the color of this sweater!!!! What about over a floral dress of some sorts or skirt? with leggings or tights and boots. Paired with a scarf?
ReplyDeleteI feel like the winter always leaves me a bit uninspired! Its so cold, and anything practical is no fun! But you look great, I do exactly this, find a great scarf or other accessory and try to snazz it up a bit! Green is a great color on you :)
ReplyDeletexo Rach
I love this look on you. Emerald green is THE colour for Spring so you'll start to see a lot of other bloggers wearing it soon for style inspiration.

I love the green! I tend to pair green with skinny jeans and boots a lot in the winter.
ReplyDeleteI can't see the neckline of the sweater behind your cute scarf, but a patterned button down underneath it might be a fun option. I always think about how I can wear things to the office, so maybe with kakhi pants or a brown skirt.
You sound like me every morning! I too go to Pinterest for ideas. I think this sweater would look great with a button-down and a fun skirt!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking the same about Cher's closet today! I so envied her, and still do! Haha. I absolutely love your outfit! Inspiration is everywhere. Really. It's so easy to look past it all and buy new clothes, but shopping your own closet really is the best. Good luck to you.

This happens to me towards the end of every season also. Even though winter only "officially" started last month retailers make us feel like it should be over soon.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for not just going out and buying a new item. It's so much easier to create new outfits with new things constantly and a much greater challenge to use what we already have in multiple ways.
And for the record, this outfit is very cute! :)
Beautiful outfit, i love the leopard scarf! :)

I am right there with you on feeling uninspired. But, I love how simple this is and adding pop with a leopard scarf. This sweater can be worn a bagillion ways. You can add a cardigan and skirt. You can add other prints to it for mixing. It's a staple. You mojo will come back....we all go through it!!
ReplyDeleteI have those ruts every now and then. I just don't think about it for a few days and then I'm good.

I like how you have styled this, I would probably layer it over a dress (always the dresses with me lol) and with a pair of tights and some knee boots, or with some cropped pants and flats, or with a skater skirt and little heels. Anything goes I suppose :) When I am stuck for inspiration I look at other blogs and Pinterest.
ReplyDeleteI would love a wardrobe like Cher's from Clueless too, could you imagine?!?

This is super cute! I feel the same way sometimes about my closet as well. I have an app that I really love - stylebook. Its pretty much a virtual closet and you can create looks and try new things together. You have to take a pic of everything you own and upload it - it took me a few hours for a few days to get everything done but it was really easy to use. You can also browse new items from a ton of different stores, calendar your looks so you know when you wore something and plan your vacation packing list.
ReplyDeleteI've been feeling the same way lately, but for being uninspired this outfit is super chic and cute!
ReplyDeleteYou can do black pants or a skirt with it. Also will a statement necklace. I get in to those funky fashion moods to. I would also like a closet like Cher from Clueless.
ReplyDeletetucked into a full skirt with a gingham shirt underneath and a cute collar/bauble necklace? i don't think you look uninspired at all...you look fun and fresh!

I am in love with that scarf! It's very cute. I would probably pair this with a chambray button down under the sweater, a pair of skinny jeans, and a pair of either blue or magenta wedges. Also, if you come across that Cher app, please let us know. Haha.

Awww I love your outfit. I know how you feel though. Sometimes I just sit in front of my closet and just think what to wear. Even though I have tons of clothes I still can't figure out what to put together. I wish we had Cher's computerized closet too! hahaha.. That would be awesome!!

Animal print and green are a great combo, but I know what you mean about being in a rut. I think it's probably just a case of the Januarys. I'm not worried, you always come up with great looks!

ReplyDeleteSo random...but maybe a navy polka dot skirt? Don't you have one of those?
ReplyDeleteI always go to Pinterest for inspiration!
Yes! I have a navy polka dot dress (which I've worn as a skirt). I LOVE that you know my closet :) That is such a great suggestion!
DeleteI can't live without my leopard scarf. Every time I use it, I feel more stylish. lol
ReplyDeleteYou can try layering it with a patterned shirt or wearing a bolder necklace?
i always look to people like you Sharon. don't worry (i think you're experiencing the winter blues), there will be a change of season and you'll be inspired again. love brown and green together.

I know the feeling! This is exactly what happened to me quite some time ago, I have a full closet but nothing to wear...or should I say nothing exciting to wear. Argh! But from this outfit I'd never guess that.

Go Chic or Go Home! You just need to upload pictures of everything in your wardrobe, which can be a bit tedious, but once everything is on there, it's totally worth it! It is also a great community of bloggers, fashion lovers, and people trying to shop their own closets/ remix their wardrobes. http://gochicorgohome.com/
ReplyDeleteI´m in the same situation and I know is kinda hard to come up with totally new outfits because we´re use to certain looks that we know work for us.
ReplyDeleteWhat I did was: try this sweater on with everything you have. Even with that clothes that you think it doesn´t match and try to make it work. You´ll see that there are some clothes that look, actually, pretty good together and you didn´t even thought of mixim them!!

new post on our blog: http://sharpenstyle.blogspot.com.es/
Ugh, i think we all feel like this at some point and I just finally dug myself out of the rut I was in all summer, so I wish you the best! (However, I have to say that your "uninspired" looks are amazing. This is an all time favorite for me, I look the thick leather belt with the jeans and the bright sweater, it has a very Jennifer Aniston look to it and she's one of my favorites for casual looks.)
ReplyDeleteI hear you loud and clear!!! Another issue of mine....I put an outfit together...take pics...view pics...and then it never makes it to my blog because I don't like the way the outfit turned out:/. It's so hard. I'm definitely feeling overwhelmed too! I always go to pinterest for inspiration. Having said that you styled this outfit beautifully so I have no ideas what you're talking about;)! I love the green with the browns and leopard!
ReplyDeletePINTEREST, GIRL! It'll never let you down. (Lookbook is good too)

I think we all have moments like this. Sometimes instead of trying to figure out how to change the garment, a simple touch of accessories helps, or layering as well, i.e., vests, etc. :) Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThose jeans look awesome on your petite figure...love the colors and scarf. dawn suitcase vignettes xo
ReplyDeleteI dont think this look uninspired! I think its cute! What about boots with tights and the sweater and a BIG bold necklace!
ReplyDeletehttp://coffeebeansandbobbypins.blogspot.com/
Ahh!! You look adorable!! I see that sweater with jeans of every color, black skinny pants, a skirt and tights, even a corduroy skirt and boots. The color looks great on you and I LOVE it paired with the leopard scarf!!
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling, Sharon. Whenever I'm feeling uninspired, I love to look at other blogs and of course, the old standby, pinterest to get some fresh ideas. I LOVE your green sweater, and I'd pair it with a maxi, boots, & a cowl scarf. Or how about with white skinnies & ankle boots...or over a dress worn with tights & heels (for our upcoming 50 degree week!!!), or with a button up underneath.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing how you remix this!

Try a pair of burgundy jeans with some golden accessories thrown in. Or try a nice black pencil skirt with patent black pumps. I feel like that whenever I'm down actually. When I'm happy inspğrion comes but when I'm not so happy then my brain shuts down.

I love your resolution to get better about shopping your own closet! I personally love this outfit, and that is a super cute classic sweater. When I need some inspiration I try adding belts, or coming things with others of my favorites (sweaters, liquid leggings, and even over dresses!)

WHAT? Uninspired? I love this outfit! But I feel you on the times you're sick of your closet. Usually I open up Go Chic or Go Home because it gives me fresh eyes. I'll also sift through Pinterest or other blogs that I don't normally follow or really old posts from blogs I do follow for some inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI think you could pair this sweater with an a-line skirt, tights and boots or a pencil skirt (neutral or something fun like teal or yellow) for a sleeker look. Try belting it with a thin belt for a different shape and try it with different necklaces. Or layer a plaid/chambray/patterned button down under it!
I love the way the scarf pops out more because of the color on the sweater. I get in the slump too, try paring it with a skirt or some colored denim.
ReplyDeleteYou must check out Go Chic or Go Home!
