This week's question is:
What did you think about dating and relationships when you were little? What do you think of them now?
Dear Sharon,
When you were little, you thought your handsome prince would come rescue you like he did for Cinderella. Or like Richard Gere did for Julia Roberts (minus the hooker part). Not only would he be handsome, but rich too. (Your mom told you you better marry rich to support your expensive taste in clothes). Once you found your prince, everything would be like sunshine and rainbows.
Now you know that you didn't need any rescuing. Your "prince" needs you just as much as you need him. It's okay if he's not rich, since you make your own money! (plus he doesn't really understand why handbags are so expensive). Relationships are not perfect and require both people to work at it. But you did get one thing right...he sure is handsome!
(FYI, this photo isn't from our wedding)
And so that you're ready for next week's question:
What did you think about dating and marriage the year before you met "the one?"

This is so cute! I love this idea - and that's right we make our own money!!!

oh i love this idea!!
ReplyDeletewhat a fun link up!
ReplyDeletehaha "minus the hooker part"!
ReplyDeleteThe funny thing is that when I wrote mine, the whole bit about a prince rescuing me actually came from one of the lines of Pretty Woman. You beat me to it! Great letter Sharon!
ReplyDeleteIt's great to find that special someone so you can rescue each other!
ReplyDeleteHave a fab weekend Hun xoxo

Awww...what a great post. I love that photo of marriage is finding someone to annoy for the rest of your life. Hmmmm what did I think of dating now vs. when I was a kid. It's best to not let your guard down you nerve want to get hurt, and you always want the upper hand. I believed it then and still do now.
ReplyDeleteAww Bessie, but part of finding someone is being able to let your guard down. With the right person, you'll be able to be vulnerable with them.
DeleteHaha aw, I thought I'd get a handsome, rich prince too. I even drew up plans for my dream home complete with five stories, TVs in every room and a pool table in the attic. What a lovely letter :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful weekend!!
haha love this. totally thought i would live a fairy tale with a prince and all that jazz!
ReplyDeleteLove that e-card! Totally true! :) and you guys are such a beautiful couple!
ReplyDeleteAh your letter is so short and sweet! I love it! Definitely something you can share with your daughter someday (except the whole "Pretty Woman" reference hahaha).
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog to check out my post. xoxo

I love this idea so much! What a cute letter...I so agree. Marriage is different than you pictured it when you were younger, but it's so much better. I found a pin on pinterest that days "Marriage is like having a sleepover with your best friend every night" I love it!
ReplyDeleteExcited to read more of these letters...thanks for co-hosting such a fun blog hop! :)

oh man i would tell my former single self don't date that guy and don't date that guy but keep in mind to enjoy your life as a single lady too. being married is definitely better but dont feel rushed necessarily to find that man, the time when right will happen!
ReplyDeleteSo true! Looking back, I dated a lot of guys I shouldn't have!
DeleteThis is so cute and fun! Totally, when we were young, we all wanted our Prince Charming to come along and sweep us off our feet, didn't we? :)
