The holidays are over, the gifts have been unwrapped, and well, Santa made some boo-boos in the gift department. And I guess he was pretty confident since he didn't include gift receipts. Major gifting faux-pas! (Santa, please just get me gift cards next year!).
So what's a girl to do? Should I:
a) Attempt to return the gifts, sans receipt, for store credit? (This option is iffy since it may not work and I'm not sure I want anything else from these stores).
b) Re-gift the items
c) Try to sell them on eBay
What are you doing with your unwanted gifts?

We seriously love that skirt<3

Oohh..that's a hard one. Are they all wrong sizes or what? Gift receipts are necessary!! Ahhh!!
ReplyDeleteI would personally do store credit..hopefully there's something there you want!
It's just stuff that's not my style and I know I'd never use it!
DeleteHmmmm, I would probably try for store credit also. I am too lazy to Ebay (although my sister does this for a living and does well selling vintage and brand name stuff) and I have this thing in my head, that if I have to re-gift, are others gonna like it too?
ReplyDeleteI love the combination stripes and leopard printing, you look great!!I love the skirt!!Kisses:)
ReplyDeleteThat's a tough one....maybe ebay since you don't want anything else from the store. That stinks!! On a better note, you look adorable. I love the stripes and leopard.
ReplyDeleteThis is why I tell everyone to just get me cash! Because usually they have bad taste in clothes or they aren't my size at all. I know how frustrating it is. I'd try to take them to the store but if not, eBay them!
ReplyDeleteCash would've been perfect too!
DeleteIf its something that you wouldn't be embarrassed to re-gift, you can do that. But if its that bad, then maybe you should try to sell it on ebay. Good luck!

I haven't gotten any gifts yet! lol We didn't get to go home for Christmas so we're celebrating with our families in January.

How do you like those boots? I've seen them on several blogs and the price is unbeatable. I just bought the Steve Madden Intyce, which look similar, but I've heard these are actually better quality!

I absolutely LOVE my boots...I've been wearing them non-stop since I got them! They did get a little scuffed up already but I'm sure that would happen with any pair.
DeleteOh no, that stinks :( I have had a lot of luck without receipts in the past, I would try for store credit... assuming you like the store. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI would go for store credit - there has to be SOMETHING you could find there, no? Or maybe find something to give to someone else? What stores are they? I'm sure the store would not give you a hassle for not having a receipt, since it's right after the holidays.
ReplyDeleteOhh no! Hm, I guess it depends on what you got. If you like the store and think you can find something else you like, I would go for store credit. If not, sell on ebay!
ReplyDeleteI always try to sell unwanted stuff on ebay, might not get exactly what it's worth but at least you get something!
ReplyDeleteUgh that sucks - I'd try just going back to the store to exchange.... loving that fierce leopard skirt on you!!!

oh noes. hmmmm... i'd take them, with the tags on to the store, and see what they can do for you! i love the outfit your wearing, girl!
ReplyDeleteI never realized we are about the same height! I love it ha! This whole look is amazing, and I am obsessing over that skirt!!

Really? I didn't know that either! You look tall in your photos :)
DeleteOh man, you're left in a difficult situation, and unfortunately I don't have any suggestions! I'm terrible at selling things on Ebay so personally I'd try to exchange it at the store. I love that you're from jersey and you're petite! I'm from "the north" myself and am now a new follower :)

Professionally Petite
You should put them up for sale on your blog! If no one wants them, then I'd attempt to take them back to the store. I got a few things that are too small with no receipt, so I'm going to attempt to take them back and exchange. {or get some money back ;)}

I thought about that! I think I'll probably try to return it first since I don't have the receipt. Figure if I wait too long it won't seem like a holiday gift. If that doesn't work, then I'll go to plan B. :)
DeleteI agree with Ashlee! Sell them on your blog! I love your leopard skirt, boots and stripes today Sharon!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute outfit!! You look so pretty! I'm drooling over that skirt! I'd just try to return them if it were me :)

Some stores do let you return without receipts, but that's only helpful if you know where the item was from! I've regifted gifts before, to people who would like them better than I would!
ReplyDeleteLuckily I do know where it's from!
DeleteI've never brought anything back to the store, never got a receipt with it either. But mostly I keep the presents for a while till I find someone who probably would like it better, so I would regift them. Beautiful skirt by the way!
ReplyDeleteLove your mix of stripes and leopard print! Just the right touch :)

Really love your leopard skirt! I would bring stuff to the store and at least find out what they will give your for it :)
ReplyDeleteI soooo love the leopard skirt!!!

I like your necklace! The stripes and leopard is a good combination too. I would just return the items for store credit. That just seems the easiest!

Love that leoplard skit - what a grogeous outfit! Happy I found your blog :)

Love the skirt Sharon!
ReplyDeleteAnd if they are "sellable" type pieces, then I would go for ebay. But if the tags are still on them and you can tell where they were purchased, you should be able to return to the store for at least a credit...that way you can pick out something a little more your liking :)
Hope you enjoy the rest of 2012 friend!

Boo to bad gifts :( I'd probably try to return them for store credit and hope there is something I like there better. I have tried it, but their are also gift card selling sites, you could always get store credit and sell them on the gift card site?
ReplyDeleteLove today's outfit though! I'd wear it in a heart beat!

Do you have a resale boutique??? You could try to get rid of them that way! We have a place where we can consign.....or another store that will pay cash on the spot!
ReplyDeleteStart with trying for the store credit - worst case they won't take it and then you could try to consign or Ebay them. That's what I'd try to do anyway! I'm sorry you didn't get gift receipts, that totally stinks! That happened on one of my hubby's gifts too.
ReplyDeleteI do really like your outfit today though!!
Youre so cute!
ReplyDeleteI have all my receipts so I'm just returning things, but possibly exchanging some of them! You can almost always get store credit without a receipt.

Good Lucky on exchange. I have exchange a pair of pants
ReplyDeleteI would totally try selling them on Ebay or joining a Facebook swap group. I've gotten rid of so many items and traded them for something I really loved :)

Good Luck with the exchanges! The problem I always have is that store credit w/o the receipt almost always is for whatever the current price is. Unfortunately, everything is on major clearance right after the holidays, so if someone paid $20 for your gift, chances are that you will only get $10 store credit or even less. Would you consider donating the items? Bad gifts are terrible. :(
ReplyDeleteOh that is true! I didn't even think about that. I think I'll see what I can get for store credit first and then see further if it's a really small amount.
DeleteOhh leopard! My new favorite print, I love that skirt!

I usually just go for the store credit and hope I can find something I like...or buy someone else a gift from that store. I really try not to re-gift in case the gift giver ever figures it out...haha. Unless the gift came from the Scot and in that case I will return it right in front of him. He has thick skin.

Love the stripes with the leopard print! The neutrals keep the outfit from being too outrageous. I usually go for the store credit when possible.
ReplyDeletethanks for share.
